Sculpture Forest ALIVE!

Dancer/Choreographer Mairéad Filgate and Singer/songwriter/harpist and music educator Shannon Kingsbury developed an immersive sensory journey through the Haliburton Sculpture Forest. Creators Shannon Kingsbury and Mairéad Filgate, along with local artists - musicians Bethany Houghton, Nick Russell; dancer Andrea Lithgow; visual and fibre artists Scott Walling and Wendy Lingard; and film artist/videographer Brad Brown - brought the Haliburton Sculpture Forest alive in celebration of its 25th Anniversary. Over a hundred visitors enjoyed the performances in light rain that featured original songs, choreography, visual art, and sound collage built from community voices. This site-responsive performance guided audiences on a journey through a series of vignettes inspired by the sculptures — reflecting on the layering of memory, belonging, creative lineage, and our deep relationship with the natural world.
During the week, August 24 - 30, visitors to the Sculpture Forest had the pleasure of watching the work in development as the artists collaborated and created together.
