Performer Biographies
Mairéad Filgate (Choreographer, Performer) divides her time between Montreal and Toronto. She has performed and created nationally and internationally with a myriad of incredible artists. She creates both independently and with the collaborative trio Throwdown Collective, for theatres, parks, forests, and film. A member of the Danny Grossman Dance Company from 2003-2008, Mairéad is collecting oral histories of the company’s storied three decades.
Robbie Grunwald (Composer) is an independent producer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Based in Toronto, he has performed across the globe with artists including Donovan Woods, Jill Barber, and Rose Cousins. Robbie has contributed compositions for dance by choreographers Michael Caldwell, Mairéad Filgate, and Meredith Thompson, scores for films by Mike Vass, and Paola Marina, produced records for Blackbird Valley, Lydia Persaud, Nate Daviau (The Launch), and contributed to albums by Juno winning artists Donovan Woods, Jill Barber, Rose Cousins, and The Good Lovelies. Robbie’s own musical projects include electronic music duo DoubleTooth, Blackbird Valley, and his debut solo piano album Oma.
Shannon Kingsbury (Composer, Performer) is a singer, songwriter, harpist and music educator based in Guelph. Her original music dives deep into internal landscapes of dream, archetype and emotion. Kingsbury’s musical works include two solo albums, film soundtracks and recordings, co-curating site specific performances for Spring Awakes! (Ignatius Old Growth Forest), and composing/directing for Ondine Chorus.
Originally from Montreal, Marie Lambin-Ganon (Performer) is a choreographer, dancer and visual artist. She has had the pleasure of collaborating with internationally renowned artist Sara Cwynar who commissioned her to create the choreography for her work: “Red Film”. In 2019, Lambin-Gagnon was commissioned by the Toronto Dance Theatre to create a performance installation titled “Slow Dance,” which earned her a feature in NOW Magazine as one of their “12 Stage Artists to watch in 2019.” In March 2020, the choreographer premiered “Slow Death,” a piece that was commissioned and presented by the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Matthew Lumley (Performer), is a Halifax-based actor, delighted and humbled to work with this wonderful group of artists! His recent theatre work includes Schoolhouse, Macbeth, Elapultiek, Frankenstein, In This Light, Animal Farm, North Mountain Vanya (Two Planks), The Realistic Jones, Heaven Above/Heaven Below (KAZAN Theatre), Hamlet (Below the Salt), The Little Years (Matchstick Theatre), This Is Nowhere (Zuppa Theatre); TV and film credits include Look At Me (upcoming; Afro Viking Pictures) Hopeless Romantic (Northeast Films); Polaroid (Dimension Films), Weirdos (Shadow Shows), Mr. D (CBC).
Sully Malaeb Proulx (Performer), is a queer emerging dance artist and dance educator based in Toronto. Since training at the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre in high school, then studying at the Conservatory of Dance at the State University of New York (Purchase College), and now being a freelance dance artist in Toronto, he’s gotten to dance and perform with artists from near and far. If he could have any superpower, he would be a shape-shifter.
Originally from Huntsville, Ontario, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Meredith Thompson (Performer) (she/her), is a dance artist, dance maker, facilitator and arts educator who lives and works in Tkaronto. She has performed throughout Canada and beyond with numerous choreographers for over two decades, and has been making work, both independently and collaboratively, that has been presented across the country. Most recently, Meredith is a new student of Expressive Arts Therapy and a relatively new mom.
